MotorWeek's Greg Carloss was first on the scene at the national press release for the new Fiat 124 Spider in San Diego, California.  A revival of a 50-year-old name, this new roadster will help expand their lineup here in the U.S.

The 124 Spider shares its platform with the Mazda MX-5 Miata, but is powered by Fiat's own 1.4 liter MultiAir Turbo 4 cylinder.

In Classica and Lusso trim levels, the engine makes 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft. of torque.  In top Abarth spec, it makes 164hp and 184lb-ft.

A six speed manual transmission is standard.  A six speed automatic is available.  Pricing starts at $24,995 for the Classica.  Lusso starts at $27,495, and Abarth starts at $28,195.
