Our success story this week takes us to Connecticut's USA Waste and Recycling and an innovative way at tackling the issues of trash and a cleaner environment. Working with the Capital Clean Cities of Connecticut team, the firm built the nation’s first solar powered compressed natural gas fueling station in East Windsor. It fuels about 100 of their alternative fuel CNG powered refuge trucks every day.

FRANK ANTONACCI: It’s an incredible collaboration of two green technologies into something that really works for this business and our communities.

Compared to older diesel engines, the CNG powered trucks produce 19-thousand pounds less nitrous oxides each year. And as far as “particulate matter 2.5” the trucks emit 50-percent less compared to diesel… giving everyone in the constitution state cleaner air to breathe.
