There’s an all-new Honda Civic headed our way. This 2022 Honda Civic Sedan represents the 11th generation of Honda’s longest running model.

With its cleaner and more matured styling, this one is a clear evolution of what Civic has always been; a sporty looking, feature-packed 4-door sedan with comfort and practicality in spades.

A slightly stiffer architecture, with 1.4-inches of additional wheelbase, allows for improved ride-and-handling; as well as provides a worthy platform for any souped-up Civics that arrive in the future.

Dave Scrivener: “The 2022 Civic is not a clean-sheet makeover, and it didn’t need to be. Honda has pushed the styling forward and updated technology features to keep the Civic competitive in a fast-moving market. It’s the right Civic for right now, and leaves room for the model to adapt and grow into the future.”

The slightly more driver focused interior is now quite trendy with  a fresh, very horizontal dash layout, and a large touch screen perched atop it. A 7-incher on most trims; Touring ups it to 9-inches, plus adds a 10-inch LCD gauge display and Bose audio.

All models have standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The standard 158-horsepower 2.0-liter I4 carries over, as does the 1.5-liter turbo-4; though now with 180-horsepower, it hits the trifecta of being more powerful, more efficient, and more refined.

Jessica Ray: “You might have noticed that we didn’t mention a manual transmission. Well, that’s because Civic Sedans now only come equipped with a CVT. But the manual isn’t gone completely. If you’re looking for three pedals, you’ll just have to opt for the upcoming Si or Type R. So the manuals are saved...for now.”

Safety updates include an innovative new front airbag design, and side airbags for rear seat occupants; as well as expanded Honda Sensing.

The 2022 Honda Civic will arrive in dealerships this summer.  Until then, stay tuned for more info here... on MotorWeek.
