Since it’s total redesign for 2010, the Cadillac SRX has jumped from an also-ran in the midsize luxury crossover segment all the way up to number 2 sales spot, trailing only the Lexus RX.

Now, in order to keep the momentum going towards that top spot, Cadillac is adding a larger 3.6-liter V6. Similar to the CTS’ directed injected 3.6, its sports best-in-class 308-horsepower. To reduce parts and weight the exhaust manifolds are integrated into the heads. Last year’s 3.0-liter and 2.8 turbo V6s have been dropped.

BRIAN ROBINSON: The new engine in the SRX is a big improvement over the previous 3-liter. Very smooth, lots of power; and even more impressive, even with the 20-inch wheels the SRX has a really smooth ride.

JOHN DAVIS: Additional updates for the ‘12 model year SRX include new 20-inch wheels, a new Ebony black interior theme, and standard Bluetooth on all models.

Over 70 percent of SRX customers are first time Cadillac buyers; and it has become Cadillac’s best selling model.

Base price for the 2012 Cadillac SRX is just over $36,000 and its available now.
