2016 Jaguar XF
With the F-Type selling well, a new XE compact sedan and F-Pace crossover due soon, it’s easy to overlook Jaguar’s bread and butter four-door: the XF. But the Gen 2 is here, and just about everything is changed. An all-new weight saving chassis, and standard 340 horsepower 3.0 liter supercharged V6 makes XF much more of a driver’s car. The S model bumps horsepower to 380, with all-wheel drive optional.
The still familiar styling now falls more in line with Jag stunners like the F-Type, with LED lighting, and sleek but aggressive lines.
Inside, enhanced material quality accompanies this thorough redesign.
GREG CARLOSS: “At first glance, it may appear as though the 2016 Jaguar XF is about the same as the previous model. A closer looks, however, reveals that it’s on an all new architecture, but not just any architecture, but Jaguar’s aluminum intensive architecture. So what does that do for the XF? Well, it makes it lighter AND stiffer, which in turn gives it better driving dynamics. Having spent a fair amount of time in the previous XF, I can say this one is more dialed in. It also changes steering systems, going from hydraulic power to electric power. I have to give credit where it is due, this is a pretty good system and offers decent feel.
