First Impressions
2018 Honda Odyssey
Episode 3642
Taking a Quick Spin in this 2018 Honda Odyssey, required flying across the U.S. as well as a big chunk of the Pacific Ocean to the Big Island of Hawaii. Tough job, we know. But that’s the lengths we’ll go, to bring you the latest first drive information.
And this all-new Odyssey is certainly a big deal, kicking off the 5th generation of Honda’s ever-popular minivan.
First-and-foremost are the family friendly features. CabinWatch allows you to keep tabs on back seat shenanigans, CabinTalk lets you make public address announcements through all speakers and headphones, 4G LTE Wi-Fi enables streaming video, and you can control it all from your smartphone with the CabinControl app. More importantly, Honda put a big priority on making it all easy to use, with a new Android-based operating system.
Likewise, the Magic Slide 2nd row seat makes things easier than ever to operate inside, while also providing even more flexibility than before.
Power still comes from a 3.5-liter V6, but horsepower gets a boost to 280; and a new 10-speed automatic transmission is optional.
So, what did we learn during our Polynesian drive time?
BRIAN ROBERTS: “Driving the new Odyssey is very pleasant, the ride is smooth, the horsepower is plentiful, the new 10-speed transmission shifts flawlessly; even the cabin is so quiet, you can actually have a conversation with the kids in the back.”
JOHN DAVIS: On sale now, 2018 Honda Odyssey pricing starts at just over $30,000.
