For 20-years the BMW X5 has been the gold standard for sporty mid-size crossovers utilities. The 2019 BMW X5 begins the 4-th generation… expanding in every direction… but still handling like a German sport sedan should.

The 4-point-4 liter TwinPower turbo V8 xDrive50i now rates 456-horsepower. The 3.0 liter I-6 TwinPower turbo is boosted by 35-horses to 335.

An eight-speed Steptronic transmission expertly clicks through the gears… while the rear biased XDrive ensure excellent traction. Two-axle Air Suspension is now optional, where just the rear got support before.

Going through the curves it’s flat and nimble, and the steering is quick… which really adds to the fun of driving enthusiastically on a back road like we are in Georgia.

The new Off Road Package can raise ground clearance by about an inch-and-a-half… up to 10-point-3 inches. With this new dose of off-road prowess, we found the X5 firmly gripped the climbing trails, and held strong on steep slopes.

A digital gauge cluster and a redesigned infotainment screen are new to the driver centric cockpit with more safety tools.

The South Carolina assembled 2019 BMW X5 Sport Activity Vehicle is on sale now starting at just under $61,000.
