We’re off to San Francisco, where it all began for the Mustang Bullitt. In 1968, Steve McQueen raced through the streets in a Mustang GT Fastback in one of the most famous cinematic car chases for the film “Bullitt”. 50-years later, the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt is only the third iteration.

Ford retuned the 5.0-liter V8 bringing the punch up to 480 horsepower, with a dose of the Mustang GT Premium and Performance Package. There’s a short throw 6-speed manual trans only… including a cue ball shift knob.

“The automatic rev matching is pretty addicting in here. It just gives that nice sound that you want. The exhaust is already so clean and crisp absolutely love it. I’m on the highway, right now I’m in 4-th gear and 3000 rpms. Go down to third, auto rev match. Off with the clutch back on the gas.”

JOHN DAVIS: High rpms, a whole lot of grip, and the optional smooth MagneRide suspension add up to a thrilling, and well matched drive.

The 12-inch digital LCD customizable digital dash display brings modern technology to the leather-trimmed interior.

The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt is on sale now starting under $47,000.
