Though Bentley is a brand known for automotive extravagance and 12-cylinder engines; like most of us, they’re trying to be a little more frugal with resources these days.  Thus, we see a new Bentayga Hybrid.

It’s a plug-in hybrid crossover utility; combining a 3.0-liter turbo V6 with an electric motor to produce over 440-horsepower and deliver about 18-miles of pure electric driving.

Jessica Ray: “While the hybrid powertrain of the 2021 Bentayga is unchanged from when it debuted last year, it is still a big part of Bentley’s plans to go all-electric by 2030. They’re starting this transition by moving their model range to plug-in hybrid or battery electric by 2026. So in the next five years, we should be seeing similar powertrains across the board at Bentley and hopefully that includes better EV ranges.”

The Bentayga Hybrid comes with a new infotainment system that works with navigation to provide feedback through the pedals helping you drive more efficiently.  And also brings with it a freshened exterior and subtle interior updates shared with the rest of the Bentayga lineup.

Dave Scrivener: "Despite its upper crust pedigree, Bentley has always been about sport performance and powertrain technology so their embracing the market shift to sport utilities and electric boost shoudl really come as no surprise. And the Bentayga actually works as an SUV, not just a polo picnic platform. It drives with all the energy and purpose of a pack of hounds on the hunt, and their commitment to plug-in hybrid technology proves once again that old dogs can learn, and master, new tricks."

Arriving in dealers now, the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Hybrid PHEV starts at around $157,000.
