Restyled and refreshed, Acura brought us out to California to get behind the wheel of the 2022 RDX compact luxury crossover.

The main updates focus on more standard features for all trims…and increased attention to cabin noise…especially on models equipped with option packages…like the Advanced Package we were in.

Acura says thanks to additional sound deadening and acoustic glass, there’s a 30% improvement in cabin noise…something we can attest to after driving on the busy streets of Los Angeles.

Even more standard tech is now included…like wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.

Under the hood, no changes from the 2021 model, still as 272 horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 10 speed automatic transmission.

While no changes to the drivetrain, a re-tuned adaptive damper system delivers behind the wheel and improves ride quality.

"When you’re in the driver’s seat and switching between comfort and sport mode, it does feel like you can notice a difference in the drive….more responsive in sport mode…more comfort in comfort mode."

When it comes to the exterior, some design elements have been borrowed from the larger MDX, like a wider textured grille and larger front air intakes…giving the RDX a more powerful appearance on the road.

With a $1,045 destination charge, the 2022 Acura RDX starts at $40,345  and is one sale now. And we’ll have more later, right here on MotorWeek!
