The full-size SUV segment is more competitive than ever and Toyota’s Sequoia hasn’t seen a proper redesign since 2008. Well, the third-generation is officially on the horizon as Toyota recently revealed their all-new 2023 Sequoia.

The 3-row SUV will share the same body-on-frame platform as the Tundra pickup, Lexus LX, and global Land Cruiser.

And it sure looks like a Toyota-fied version of the LX with a grille we wish the Tundra had.

The Sequoia will be available in 5 grades: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Toyota’s new top-of-the-line Capstone.

The brand’s new i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain will come standard. The 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine is assisted by a nickel-metal hydride battery (NiMH) to give a total output of 437-horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque with a maximum towing capacity of 9,000 pounds.

“So in the new Sequoia, the hybrid battery lives under this third row of seats but that means that you can’t fold this third row flat. Toyota had to get a little bit creative in the trunk to allow buyers to still be able to have a flat load floor.”

That’s where you’ll find a movable shelf system that is configurable to different heights.

The dash setup and rest of the interior is very similar to the latest Tundra which means it comes with Toyota’s new multimedia system. Seating configurations are either 7 passengers with 2nd row Captain’s Chairs or 8 with a bench.

The all-new Sequoia should go on sale this summer and we’ll have more on this full sizer coming up soon on MotorWeek!
