Keeping the slick two-door vibe going, time for a Quick Spin in this striking 2021 Lexus LC500 Convertible. The LC Coupe was of course launched 3-years ago; and nailed luxury grand touring right on the head.

Now, the top is off, elegantly stored behind the rear seats under a tonneau-like lid, with the mechanical precision that you expect from Lexus; after a tug on the toggle switch hidden in the center console.

When in place, the 4-layer cloth top almost perfectly mirrors the Coupe’s elegant profile; and while both structural reinforcements and a suspension re-tune, ensure the driving experience is equally similar.

"The LC 500 was just begging to be a convertible and this one does not disappoint. It has Grand Tourer levels of comfort, but it's also rigid enough so that you actually want to push it through the corners. And then of course with the top down you hear all that sweet, sweet exhaust noise."

That exhaust noise is of course coming from the LC’s 471-horsepower naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 that both sounds and feels like it should be in a NASCAR race car, not in a luxury grand touring machine; and that’s just fine with us.

For those that prefer running silent, we imagine the LC Coupe’s 6-cylinder hybrid will be available here as well; but no official word at this time.

Tech upgrades for ’21 get shared with the Coupe, and mean that Android Auto now joins the mix with the previously available Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa compatibility.

Nor has pricing been finalized; but we do know the 2021 LC500 Convertible will arrive in Lexus dealerships before the end of summer.
