FCA is not afraid to make bold statements; and this 2021 Ram 1500 TRX they say, is the quickest, fastest, most powerful, and most capable pickup truck in the world.

The numbers seem to back that up, 702-horsepower, 4.5-seconds to 60, NHRA-certified 12.9 in the ¼-mile, and 13-inches of suspension travel.

And Ram would also be okay if you wanted to mispronounce the name, and call it a T-Rex, because you know, they were quite capable of dominating Raptors.

Notable exterior enhancements include a macho mustache grille, functional hood scoop with accent lighting, and flow through fender vents.

The interior can be outfitted in either “basic and beat-worthy” fashion, or “posh and pompous” if you must. There’s a huge assortment of new off-road and performance goodies on the center display as well as in the digital gauge cluster.

As for actual hardware, the suspension is lifted by 2½-inches, with 35-inch tires pushed out 5-inches wider than on a standard 1500. Shocks are Bilstein Black Hawk E2s with remote reservoirs; and it’s all bolted to frame that’s been drastically beefed up.

And of course it’s a 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat supercharged V8 that makes it all go; updated to keep ample oil flow in off-road situations, and allow for up to 32-inches of water fording. It works with the Jeep Trackhawk’s 8-speed automatic transmission.

"We’re use to RAM launching new variations on their 1500 pickup. They seem to do it a lot. But, the TRX is more than just trim, suspension tweaks, big wheels, and tough talk. Hellcat powered; it now includes all the hardware true super trucks are made of."

Base TRX pricing will be around $70,000; with an initial 702 launch editions going for $88,000.

And we'll have much more on the RAM 1500 TRX coming up soon on MotorWeek!
