2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS

While there are some luxurious EVs; none could be described as a true luxury sedan like this 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS.  

The ultra-slick rounded shape may not be so easy on the eyes, but it sure is easy through the wind; Mercedes claiming it has the lowest coefficient of drag for any production car ever.  

You’ll get the full S-class experience inside, and then some; almost the entire face of the dash is made up of high-def. screens, and there’s an abundance of space for both front and rear occupants.  

Jessica Ray: “One of the more interesting features of the EQS to me would be the optional automatic comfort doors. Essentially when the driver approaches the vehicle, the driver’s door automatically opens. Then when you sit in the seat and press on the brake, the door automatically closes. You can also use “Hey Mercedes” to open any front or rear doors so what is our voice going to be controlling in our car next?”

Two versions at launch, an EQS 450+ that features a single rear 329-horsepower motor; and the EQS 580 4MATIC, which adds a motor up front for 516 total horsepower.  That’s enough for 4.1-second 0-60s and a top speed of 130 miles-per-hour. Expect a max of about 400-miles of range on a full charge, and for a high-performance AMG version to arrive soon. In fact, the new modular EVA platform that it rides on, will underpin a number of other fully-electric sedans and SUVs currently under development.  

The Mercedes-Benz shift to fully-electric is well underway; and this 2022 EQS luxury sedan is a game-changing technical tour de force, set to arrive here this fall.
