2023 Nissan LEAF

Automotive holidays are a thing, from big yearly sales events to various observances in car-related history. This week marks the 12th-annual National Drive Electric Week, a celebration looking to educate the public on electric propulsion.

National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) is a nationwide celebration about raising awareness and educating the public about electric propulsion. It’s less about catering to those who have made the switch and more about reaching out to those considering it, and it’s done through various events held online and across the States.

Finding a local event to attend or volunteer at is relatively straightforward via the NDEW website; simply plug in the location of attendance and run a search for any local happenings. Some of these venues may host ride and drive events, the chance to speak with local EV owners and the chance to explore future electrified applications. We’ve all had our fair share of virtual events over the last couple years, so it’s no surprise to see NDEW offering up a variety of online seminars and discussions for prospective consumers to attend, too. For those who can’t attend any events, the National Drive Electric Week site offers a full page discussing the merits of electric propulsion.

This year’s celebration is presented by Plug In America, the Electric Vehicle Association, the Sierra Club and EVHybridNoire. According to the site, Nissan is the exclusive automotive sponsor– specifically, the Nissan LEAF. Other sponsors include Wells Fargo and Electrify America, the latter of which is focusing their efforts in their own “Normal Now” campaign.
